The NW-5 is usually tied-up at the MassCentral office in Palmer. It hasn't been on the line for some time. Whether it's operating or not I don't know. At Thorndike's "Horseshoe Curve", there are great photo ops, BUT be aware any photography must be done on the street. All the surrounding area including the box factory driveway is private property. One railfan even climbed the fire escape on the box plant to get a shot. The local police did follow him and no charges were pressed, but the box company is far more agressive about trespassers now and will press charges due to the liability. Southbound return trips on the MC usually occur anytime around 2PM through here. Generally, the line hauls paper to Kanzaki in Ware, coil cars to Barre, and it biggest volume is plastic pellets.
