Just curious..with many regional rail lines down, such as the Paoli/Thorndale line-what do SEPTA conductors and engineers do? Do they assist somehow?

When service is disrupted available crews are used as needed, with the disruption and trains not running crews end up out of place/location or run out of hours, those thy are there and don't have their regular train work as instructed until a point where their regular run picks up again

They shoulda run extra trains to Cynwyd to compensate for Overbrook being closed. Wouldn't have hurt.

the Cynwyd line was down yesterday along with the West Trenton, Warminster and the Paoli Thorndale line...

This storm caught everyone by surprise. I'm glad they had any service at all given the severity and affected areas.

West Trenton line was fine, just that derailment along with some other issues, better off suspending as they did. They may have needed to de-energize the wires to fit a crane in or whatnot.

Fixed your post. The R5 and R6 share trackage and power. For one to run and not the other would be a freak phenomenon. The single trackage limits what the R6 can do in frequency.

SEPTA has priority planning that favors service in this order: Glenside, Lansdale, Everywhere else except Cynwyd, Cynwyd.

If SEPTA were in the business of moving the fewest passengers possible, then Cynwyd would be the priority.

As it is, the main trunk THEY OWN AND CONTROL has stations at Jenkintown and Glenside.
