The thread on exterior cleaning of the Metrorail rolling stock reminded me of similar travails experienced by the London Underground with their trains, which had unpainted exteriors from the 1950s to the 1990s. They had serious issues with graffiti, dirt, and stains and eventually painted all of their trains in their current red, white and blue livery, with the entire exterior fully covered. Given the costs that Metro will probably have with their existing and new cleaning processes for their existing trains, what are the chances that the 7000 Series will also have fully painted exteriors that are designed to be cleaned easily? If they will not be painted, will they be clear coated like Sand Box John stated to make cleaning easier or will they still have sections of exposed metal?

The 7000 series features an unpainted stainless steel body, a departure from the extruded aluminum used on all prior series.
