Supposedly, the railroads don't like the extream curve that the Compramise line/Track 3 takes as it bends at Exchange St. and the bridge at CP 1 (River Bridge) is only used as a back up when Draw is fouled with train/boat traffic, or otherwise out of service.
SST has an ok idea, but then NS would have to build some sort of connecions with their lines through Blasedell up and on to the Buffalo Line instead of the current alignment where the Buffalo Line crosses up and over the top of the main lines at Blasedell to drop in at CP 5 on CSX. The right of way from the old Pennsy & LV lines that run next to the current Buffalo Line through Blasedell would make a better alignment to get off the NS main lines going North to an East direction to the Buffalo Line since the rail beds are still mostly there, but a entirerly new connection would have to be made for the main lines going South out of Buffalo and up to the Buffalo Line since there is no original alignment there.
Either that scenario or my ideas with the bridge would cost millions.
