Guder daag forumleser,
Well gebt's deel Pennsilfaanisch-Deitsche-Riggelwegfane?

So are there any Pennsylvania German railfans here, they would presumably be non-secratarians. Have any of the ones here also done railfanning in Germany, particularly in the Palatine region?

My first train ride of many in Germany was a local run from Landau to Annweiler, in the Palatinate,in 1988. I'm not PA German although I do have some German background. Hearing Pfälzer German spoken, it's not hard to see where PA German comes from. On the flip side, I was once waiting for a train in Hamburg and an older American gentleman (or perhaps German-American) was telling me about riding a train in Pennslvania in thr winter. "Ze Reading Railroad, it vas called," he said, "and it vas so cold zat on ze vindows vere frost flowers!" I didn't tell him that one of the books I had brought to Germany from the US for the year was Dale Woodland's "Reading Diesels, Vol. 1"!
