May 31, 2005 -- A Westchester driver lost control of his car and was thrown to his death along Metro-North tracks in The Bronx yesterday, cops said.
The accident damaged the tracks and caused minor delays for hours.
Police said Kirk Robinson, 28, was pronounced dead shortly after the 6:15 a.m. accident at Park Avenue and East 165th Street in the Morrisania section.
Robinson's 1991 Ford Explorer crashed through a fence separating the road from the train tracks and hit the electrified third rail.
The driver, who was not believed to be wearing a seat belt, was ejected onto the tracks. He was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital.
Robinson, who lived in Mount Vernon, was alone in the car. Normal service was expected by this morning's rush hour, authorities said.
