When were the shops closed and what occupies the area now ?

I believe the shops were closed just after WWII. A steel fabricating company is in the shop building now I think. It has changed hands a few times over the years. The building is easily seen while traveling on Orient Way (Schuyler Ave).

Interesting that this was the original MU shop even though this was well away from the electrified line.

Although the shops were removed from the M&E (up the original Booton Line), but there was a single track that was electrifed out to the shops. Leaving the West End Interlocking west bound, it was the outter track. You can still see traces of the catenary poles between the interlocking and Secacus Junction.
