Technically B727 might not always have an ACSES equipped unit because B729 needs cab signal equipment for the MBCR Middleboro Main Line whereas B727 runs in all "dark territory". So, if there was a huge power shortage Middleboro could get away with two non cab signalled units on B727 and then B726 would just have to put these two in between the other two for it's run to Attleboro.

Dred, ACSES is a speed enforcement technology used on the Northeast Corridor between Mill River (Just east of New Haven,CT) & Boston by Amtrak to allow it's trains to run at speeds in excess of 125mph per FRA. All foreign railroads, such as CSXT, MBCR, P&W, & Shore Line East must have ACSES on the leading locomotive in order to run on the Corridor on this section. ACSES uses a radio frequency to judge the train's speed and amount of acceleration or deceleration and the distance to a speed change and if ACSES calculates that the train will not be at the required speed by the time it enters the new restriction it will enforce a penalty application of the brakes on the train. So, the faster you come up on a curve the earlier ACSES will require an automatic brake reduction, and if the engineer fails to do this he/she will receive a penalty brake penalty.

Anything new in New Bedford area? Are there any current customers other than mid city? Are they still doing the sludge/pcb thing? (i do remember seeing reefers a few years ago at the siding near the green house an earlier post mentioned, but i'm not sure if its still used).
Thanks!

B727 still services New Bedford and Fall River, althought the schedule seems to have
gone astray this summer.

No new customers...The PCB/Sludge should be winding down the Fall for the season. Good chance
it won't be back next year. Occassional reefers for the Wainer siding. Interchange with Bay
Colony at Nash Rd/Dean Steet. Millis Industries in East Freetown still active also.

Yea, if you like working for $14.00 an hour as a engineer. That will help your payment into railroad retirement.
