how about concrete ties with some sort of coating on the top, or top and sides to prevent water penetration? Like an asphalt. Cement highways covered with asphalt seem to last forever in Massachusetts

This is not a Metro North subject, MN has pretty much said no more concrete ties.

Rocla did not go out of business but it did change ownership.
