If you are looking for a children's book that can provide the kids with some real insight into the workings of locomotives, I would recommend looking at "How A Real Locomotive Works" by William Trombello. The author is a former training instructor from EMD and is well known in the railroad industry. I believe the book is published by Nightengale Press. I believe this book is now available through most of the national chain book stores and internet book sellers.
