Were these cars built new as the money train or are they former passenger cars? If ex 1000 series what were the original numbers?

These are 1000-series type cars. Not sure if they were built to be the money train or not. According to Wikipedia, they were built purposely to be money train cars. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington ... 000-Series

Formerly 1010, 1011, 1044, 1045.

Prior to them being dedicated to the purpose of revenue collection WMATA used what ever was available to move the revenue carts to the revenue collection facilities. I say facilities because, prior to the opening of the revenue collection facility in Alexandria Yard the money train unloaded the carts through a door on the right side of track B2 to the former revenue collection facility in the basement of the Jackson Graham Building.
