Has anyone ever seen picture of this wreck? I've seen the aftermath photos on NERAIL but no shots from the scene.

I wasn't even aware that there was a wreck. Was it freight or passenger or both? I'll have to check out the aftermath photos on NERail.

I have no details. I have only seen a picture of an F unit on NERAIL that states it was wrecked in Canaan NH 8/49. I'd like to know more, but I've been unable to find any other details.

Bob, that is an incredible resource! How'd you find that? Thanks for posting that up.

Not a lucky NH town

Canaan was the site of a famous train wreck on September 15, 1907. Four miles north of Canaan Station, the southbound Quebec to Boston express, heavily loaded with passengers returning from the Sherbrooke Fair, collided head-on with a northbound Boston & Maine freight train. Twenty-five people perished, and an equal number were seriously injured. Cause of the accident was "due to a mistake in train dispatcher's orders"

What an odd picture to put on a postcard.

Oddly enough, I found my own pictures. I was taking some left behind magazines out of my parents' house and found an issue of the B&M Bullitin and low and behold, here's an article about the accident with pictures. Who knew.....?

Was your issue of the Bulletin assembled correctly? I have that same issue and the pages immediately after page 10 are pages 31 through 38, followed by 29 through 40. I never noticed this when it was new. Its probably too late to ask for a corrected copy.

Thanks for that. The Bulletin staff probably put mine together specifically to mess with me. They are most certainly off my Christmas card list.
