What is the status of the B&M #494 at White River Jct., Vermont these days? For many years now we've followed the reports of work accomplished by reading the 494 Newsletter. Lately though, it seems as if nothing is going on... or at least nothing is being reported. It has always seemed to be a project involving a few dedicated workers on a shoestring budget. As with all such work, I'm a firm believer that publicity is the key to success (just look at the WW&F Museum at Sheepscot, ME as an example of that!) in any such project. Without it, nobody knows what's going on. And people who don't know are not going to give money. Certainly moving the 494 under partial cover from the weather was a big step in the right direction. Hopefully the rest of the cosmetic work has been ongoing, but under-reported. Let's hear from those involved... and a big cheer to them for what they've accomplished so far!!
