It is with a great deal of regret that I write to tell you that Bill Loftus passed away today. As you may know he recently underwent an operation for cancer and died from complications arising from that operation. He was 74 years old.

Bill was a great friend to and great leader of the short line industry. He worked tirelessly to improve our Association as President and continued to be a passionate advocate of our cause right up until the time he became ill. He always made himself available to me when I took over the Association and I sincerely appreciate his wise counsel and advice. While he will be sorely missed, Bill's personal friendship and his many
contributions will long be remembered.

Details about funeral arrangements will be posted on the ASLRRA website when they become available.
