A contract like that is golden, because it means a consistent, predictable number of stays. The closer a hotel can come to being full, the more money they can make. So yeah, the railroad might be paying a Super 8 price for a DoubleTree hotel.

When I was working at Sperry, now over a decade ago, when we worked the Amtrak line in Michigan there was a pretty nice hotel in Kalamazoo that would let us stay using the Amtrak price, it was a Marriott if I remember correctly. A nice change from the usual Super 8's and Travel lodges we stayed at.
