Amtrak On-Time Performance (OTP) Delays Reroutes Annulled

Does anybody know what happened to eastbound #306 (5th) on the STL Corridor; shows no times after OT @ Alton and
Arv. CHI 6' 58" late??????

I don't know, but 6 hours late sounds like a grade crossing strike with fatality. It happened to me once on the CofNO and we waited about that long. Requires police investigation and recrew, and sometimes it's a PITA to find a rested crew and get them to the site.

Per AmtrakAlerts twitter, it was mechanical issues at Alton chewing up 6 hours followed by routing issues in Joliet chewing up another 50 minutes.

Does anybody know what happened to:

#58 (9th) northbound City of New Orleans that Arv. JXN OT, Dp. 3'33" late, & is now 6'00 late @ Carbondale? and

#20 (9th) northbound Crescent lost 4'00" Meridian / Tuscaloosa & is now about 7' 15" late.

Southbound CNO and Crescent show no loss of time.

Does anybody know why #49 (10th) westbound Lake Shore Limited Dp'd. NYP 3' 55" late??; now running 4' 20" late @ CLE/

I believe there was an issue with a coach or coaches. Ill check tonight when I get to work. Left Albany 11ishpm last night. Im sure CSX helped it loose more time once it got onto the Mohawk.

Update: City of New Orleans Train 58 that departed New Orleans (NOL) on 5/9 is currently operating about 5hr 45min late due to an unforeseen crew change at Jackson (JAN) and rail congestion between JAN and Newbern-Dyersburg (NBN).

UPDATE: Crescent Train 20 which departed New Orleans on 5/9 is currently operating about 7hrs late due to earlier freight train congestion and routing delays due to a broken rail outside of Birmingham (BHM).

Also, flooding has shut down access to New Orleans for a month.

Bus subsitution between Burmingham and New Orleans, per AmtrakAlerts:

Service Alert: Crescent Train 19 departing New York (NYP) on 5/11 will terminate at Birmingham (BHM) due to a freight train derailment north of Picayune (PIC). Alternate bus transportation will be provided for passengers between BHM and New Orleans (NOL).

Funny thing, there's a branch line that connects in Hattiesburg, skipping Picayune and Sidel to the East. The downside is that they'll have to put engines on both ends for the entire trip, because you'll have a few reverse moves to get on the right tracks.

Does anybody know what happened to #59 (19th) southbound City of New Orleans; Dp. CHI OT and now 7'00" late and not into MEM yet?

59(19)'s engine died north of Mattoon IL.
Waited over six hours for rescue by CN which sent CN2563 and 2533

Just heard from my friend who works at Quantico and resides in Fredericksburg. She said there were severe T-storms throughout Northern VA, and it was "sport" driving home.

Any reports of Amtrak and/or VRE delays?

91 was the last train to get through before all trains were halted somewhere around Lorton-Springfield and Richmond due to trees down on the tracks. Looks like 53, 125 and 90 lost about 3 hours. Other trains are 1 - 2 hours late. Also, 5 & 6 have been truncated to Emeryville-Denver again due to flooding around Omaha and in Iowa. Tough Spring in the Mid-West.

757P(ET); my friend residing in Caroline County texted me that she and her three dogs were "in the basement", but at 808P(ET), she texted me that the tornado, or threat, had passed.
