A pal of mine who works for a class 1 carrier said that more than 1 yard crew use the same radio frequency and it can cause confusion.I would think he crew would call out an engine number or crew number to avoid trouble.Anyone have info on this? Thanx

As part of each and every radio transmission a indentifying part has to be part of transmission .
This is in each and every railroad rules book.
In yard that could as simple as say a job designation, like yard 1 shove back 3 cars.

The less traffic there is the easier things are...

When switching a long way from the headend there is alot of radio traffic.

Around 2 cars from a joint and the engineer cant hear me tell him to pinch em down a bit cause some jackass is blabbing on about something else...

Its not that it is so confusing but that people are walking all over you with their own moves it is hard to get everything said.
