Looking through my motive power books I noticed that the MP15's and SW1500's were around in the same year. A few years later the MP15's were off the roster but the SW1500's were still on the roster. Why keep an older locomitive?

The MP-15s were leased and at the epiration of the lease Conrail chose not to buy the engines. Some reasons include the lack of a toilet, which is why they left the ex-Reading coal branches, replaced by GP-8s and 10s.
