Any reason the morris plains freight station spur is still connected via remote operated switch to the NJT mainline? The track going west used to go to the Greystone insane asylum and the track backtracks to the freight station, and it's now overgrown with trees. Why does NJT still have this connected?
That is a hand throw switch, not a remote switch.
It's still there to provide a place to clear up track maintenance equipment if needed.
