My buddy invited me over his house to watch new LNE videos he got that were from the late 50s-early 60s. One thing I noticed is that the LNE, N&B, and DLW in the cement region (Bath, Catasaqua, Nazareth) when the trains crossed roads, even busy roads like Rt 248 and Main St in Bath, they never blew their horns. There were xing flashers and the trains had their bells ringing, but no horns over the xings. Thru the whole video only one loco blew its horn and it was just a quick "toot toot" while going over Rt 248, not the standard --.- horn sound.

Did the municipalities have some kind of noise restrictions on the RRs back then? Or did they just not give a darn? Seems very odd.
