I see that Canadian Pacific runs its own "Royal Canadian Pacific" luxury passenger train, using its business cars (I think). Similarly, Iowa Pacific has luxury sleeping cars that it attaches to Amtrak trains.

Why aren't Class Is getting into this business? They have the equipment and the tracks and the relationships with Amtrak (if they want to just add cars to an Amtrak train).

With new management at Canadian Pacific there are real doubts about the future of the luxury Royal Canadian Pacific after the scheduled runs in the 2nd quarter of this year. With the US Class I railroads self insured no US Class I would find the possible return on investment worth the risk.
