That's correct, Otto. In fact, I think that the freight house under I- 490 remained well into the 1980's.

How the heck do you search or browse around on these maps? I can go to the home page - but all of the links are dead.
Les,
im not sure what you mean..
when you click on that link you *dont* get the map?
hmmm..thats odd..works for me.
well, you can find them all from scratch by going to:

http://www.rochester.lib.ny.us/rochimag/

and do a search for:

rochester map

brings up over 700 maps! :P

you can narrow it down with different search terms.
I tried "downtown map" (without the quotes)
and it brought up only 33 different maps..
(and some great aerial photos! check out all the buildings on the Main street bridge!)

wow..and simply search for the word subway..
tons of cool photos!

Les,

Even simpler, if you are looking for the kind of maps Scot posted the link for, is to narrow your search down with "Rochester Plat". Once you get used to seeing what's there, you can start doing other searches for "plat 1926", "plat 1918", etc. or whatever year you are looking for.

To help orient anyone who may be scoping out the area, one of the customers in the segment along I-490 - Spring Sheet Metal Roofing - is still there, with large orange letters on their building easily visible from the expressway.
