Interesting article in today's Boston Globe Globe West section:

MEDFIELD
Trash-to-rail disposal plan to get hearing

Some snippets:

"Medfield officials are looking to an April 24 Town Meeting to give them a sense of how residents feel about a proposal to open a regional truck-to-rail trash transfer station in town....

TransLoad America Inc., based in South Orange, N.J., has proposed a facility where trash from towns around the area would be baled and then loaded onto railcars.

The facility would be located on six acres next to the town's existing transfer station....

Public Works Superintendent Ken Feeney said he was told by officials from railroad company CSX Corp. that the rail transportation of trash is the company's fastest growing business area and that the company has encountered no problems with the bales leaking, breaking, or smelling."

Personally, I would be shocked if the tawny community of Medfield (Curt Shilling lives here in a multi-million $ mansion built originally for Drew Bledsoe) approves this.

Their lying when they say their stuff doesn't stink!!! especially in the summer. It would be good to see more business, even though this mught be switched by the Bay Colony. Another positive note to this extra business would be that it is another reason to sink money into rehabbing the Framingham Secondary. :-)

Wonder if this is the same outfit that is rumored to be looking at the Grafton and Upton ? The idea sounds the same, trash to train transfers, as the G&U interchanges with CSX @ North Grafton.
