Please pardon my ignorance; but exactly where was Lehigh Valley's Rochester Junction? As a railfan from the Rochester area sometimes dumb questions intrigue me. I just wonder where the junction was? If someone could give me some present day street references, I would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

Not much left but the platforms.
Search any mapping service for Junction Road & Plains Road, Mendon, NY.
You can also search the web and find some informative sites for the Lehigh Valley Railroad.

JP,
you will have to come along on next Spring's tour! :)
we usually do a stop at Rochester Junction most years..
(well..2 out of 3 years, so far..)

(continues on the next page of the thread)

On the 2013 tour we skipped Rochester junction, since we went there in 2011 and 2012..
but it will probably be on the tour again, in upcoming years..looks like we are going to make this
an annual event! anyone and everyone is welcome..
The 4th annual tour will be sometime next Spring..stay-tuned to that thread for details..

My wife and I did a bike ride through Rochester junction a week or so ago..the trail is in really nice shape now!
No original LV structures remain, only foundations..all the foundations are now marked however..
A new "visitor center/rest rooms" building was completed last year, based on the LV Freight House that
once stood at Rochester Junction..(cant seem to find a current photo on-line..but its a very nice building!)

and a LV boxcar from Manchester is now on display:

IIRC in some of the Google pictures, you could see where a display track panel had been built. Presumably for a caboose or box car or some display piece that has yet to materialize.

But yeah, pretty much nothing is left, although you can hike the LV main and possibly also north on the Rochester branch.

The boxcar materialized over a year ago, and a new replica of the freight house has been built,
which contains restrooms and a visitor center for the trail.
The steel boxcar is genuine LV, one of the cars from Manchester.

and a photo, and story, of the new Freight house replica, from last week:
