A few years ago, I remember the 4909 got sold from it's owners in NY, and restoration had started on it. At some point I heard that the sale fell through. What is the disposition of 4909 now?

4909 is still sitting in its original location exactly as it was, except that it's a little restored now. The restoration fell through because it isn't interchangable as is and I'm not sure what work the owner was looking to do on site. I think an offer was in the works with another owner, but I'm not too sure about what's going on with it now. Scrap is not an option, to put everyone's minds at ease. Contact the LRHS if you're interested in a GG1. There's a chance it's available!

It is supposedly going to the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan.

Yeah, that's what I heard awhile ago. Do they actually own it now, or is it still "in the planning stages?" Wonder if they'll ever move it?
