Amtrak used to get ballast out on of the Glen Mills quarry up until the end of 2011. It could sometimes be multiple nights a week depending on the need. Track conditions between CP S. Elwyn and Glen Mills deteriorated (specifically on the southern end) and Amtrak was forced to go elsewhere for ballast.

SEPTA passenger service was suspended south of Elwyn in the fall of 1986 due to deteriorating track conditions and a steep decline in ridership. They mostly ran single cars from Media to WC in the end.

The former 119 bus routing was the original West Chester shuttle bus. The 117 was a sister route to that and subsequently cannibalized portions of the route to what it is today.
