Most if not all of the WC 6900 series SD40-3's are in storage at the Woodcrest shop at Markham Yard, anyone have an idea why?

the lease is about to expire on these units and is not being renewed.

After talking to the guy who gose back and forth between Glenn yard and Hawthorne to work on the engines, When a new engine is put into service, per Hunter, an engine with equal horsepower needs to be retired.

It also works like this.

Say with the new GEVO's, take 34 of them at 4400hp each, thats close to 150000 horsepower

You need to scrap all of the WC 6900's to equal the horsepower of those 34 GEVO's.

This company doesn't scrap by # of units, but by # of total horsepower.

No wonder they are always increasingly power short.

There NOT being scrapped but turned back to the lessor! They were just rebuilt around 8 or 9 years ago and are good units! CN runs their company like Enron, its all about cost control customers be damned! BNSF is short and ALWAYS has plenty of power on hand, including a surge fleet!

Those weren't 6900's, they were 6000 series SD40-2's that the WC had gotten from Algoma Central.
