Just saw this on NETransit:
Type 7s at Riverside, awaiting draft sill and coupler damage repair (2 cars): 3677, 3704
Anyone know what's up?

Those cars have coupler damage. But this is the first time that some type 7's pulled out of service awaiting after the overhaul. However, these things should happen only rare or occasionally since the cars are overhauled. Before the overhaul, some cars would been out of service for these things and it happens often but we should now only see this on rare occasions. Hopefully 3677 & 3704 will be repaired soon. 3677 is a 2015 overhauled car while 3704 is a 2019 overhauled car.

Also 3628 and 3659 after overhaul had some damage and they were pulled out of service in 2017. This is similar to what has happened to 3677 and 3704. They were repaired sometime after in the same year but you see it's two years apart from recently. That is what I mean by these things happening rarely. Hope you guys can understand me.

Right. Just wanted to see if anyone knew the cause of the coupler damage.

The most recent issue of Rollsign also mentioned that 3601 has been out of service since 2018 and 3665 has been out of service since October (though neither of these are listed on NETransit). There are a couple other cars I've noticed powered off at Riverside too.

3677 is an active car again. So there are 102 active Type 7 cars (all overhauled) with 3704 the only one out of service per the MBTA inventory page.

3601, 3665, and 3690 are listed as out of service so the active fleet of Type 7 is now 100 cars. These cars are awaiting parts. Someone on this thread mentioned that 3601 has been out of service since last year according to the rollsign and that 3665 has been out of service since October 2018. I checked transee.ca and I saw that 3665 last ran October 25, 2018 and 3690 last time it ran was on November 2, 2018.

It appears that 3690 is the only one left in repair and 3601 has completed repairs, the person in charge of the inventory page didn't add up 3601 to the active type 7 fleet so it says 101 when it should say 102.

Ok the inventory page updated to show the 3658 is now awaiting repairs with 3690 so it makes sense that there are 101 type 7s active now.
