Last night 10/29 at around 8:30pm, I heard a horn on the Hempstead branch that sounded like a work train. I originally thought it was a 1500 on a RF Extra work train or the sandite train. But it turned out to be a DE30 and a C3 cab car. How often does this happen and what time does this usually occur. I attempted to chase this train to Garden City to capture it on video but by the time I got there it was too late.
First time I've heard of them running on the branch. In looking up the train in question, this was a PTC test train.
I've been on passenger trains with the C3 fleet that have gone to Pt Wash following snowstorms, and to Long Beach following Superstorm Sandy.
