What is the status of the former BAR shops at Milo, ME? Are they still active? Noticed on another site that the former BAR (nee Northern Pacific) boat tailed-business car has returned to NP territory in Washington State. Has all the equipment been moved out/scrapped? Any current info/photos greatly appreciated.

Derby is still going. CMQ is promoting it as a car repair shop on there new website. The town of Milo purchased the land from MMA last year and from what I understand they have an agreement with CMQ. Part of it was cleaning up the site. CMQ has been getting the old MMA equipment that was sold at the action out and getting rid of the passenger equipment sence it has no plan to run it. Now some of the equipment like BAR 502, BAR x127, MMA 5017 are still there and there are no plans on moving it out. Milo is looking into trying to get other business out on the property as well.

All the remaining MMA equipment is owned by LTE now, and will be shipped out in due time. Regarding the actual shops, CMQ has been doing work on them, and has some interesting plans for them, that should bring in a decent amount of business once done.

Have read in a couple of recent reports that CP has been clearing out equipment from Derby. Anybody know what's left up there locomotive wise.? What is the status of the shop itself? Anyone know of recent photos of the facility. Thanks for any info....

502 was at Brownville jct as of 2 weeks ago, no idea what if any plan there is for it but hopefully it gets under cover before the elements damage it too much. Paint is still not too bad, but some rust and streaking are present so it needs to get out of the weather before it becomes a major rehab. It would be nice to see it displayed somewhere in Maine or end up operational on one of the excursion operations. No idea on mechanical condition, as far as I know it hasn't been started since the centennial celebrations trains in the early 90s. But as a display piece, it would not take too much to clean it up and look pretty good.

Still at the Junction. Locomotive is said to be operational, but requiring traction motors and brake repairs. Hope the stack is covered!

Here is a video of the shops from a drone. Looks busy. Note the flaring of residual fluids from the cars.
Video was posted in May 2020.

Wonder how they treat the wastewater from the tank cleaning process.

They have a treatment plant on site. The water they use is in a closed system, which reuses the same water after going through the treatment plant.

Are there any locomotives left there? From their website it appears they are in the business of repairing and cleaning tank cars only.
