Not sure if this has been posted before but below is the link to the current NJ state map of railroad networks. Interesting to see parts of the Conrail Shared Assets as islands between abandoned track. I wonder if they'll ever reconnect Cranbury and Robbinsville? Anyone else find anything interesting?

Many mistakes on those maps...

Ex: the old Shore Fast line has been OOS for a loooooong time. The ex-LV Clinton branch was lifted in 1980. The old NYGL between the NYSW and Mountain View is not a through route -- just two segments. The Zinc Mine spur off the NYSW is long gone with the mine.

That's just a cursory glance by someone with mid-level knowledge -- I'm sure some of the other folks here will be able to find myriad more.

They're a good resource for general info, but for the more specific stuff, I'd use Google Maps. When Mapmaker was still a thing, a bunch of us worked long and hard to bring the NJ rail network as shown in line with reality, and IMO we did a mildly good job (yes I know there are still things not corrected, but they shut down the tool, so what to do...).

Funny how they still show the South Plainfield wye track as if it still exists. That switch onto the South Plainfield running track near the Park Ave. overpass has been spiked for the straight route since the 1980s. The Perth Amboy Running Track was largely abandoned in the 90s, with just the extreme east and west ends serviced from the Lehigh Line (west) or Chemical Coast and/or North Jersey Coast Line (east) since then - a big chunk was purchased and converted into a rail trail in 2002, you'd think that would be easy enough to figure out!

Just a couple of things that jumped out for me.

Are the many spurs and industry leads that branch of the Perth Amboy track in Raritan Center still active? I haven't seen or heard anything going in and out of there, and there is a cut of sharp looking hoppers that hasn't moved for at least a year and a half . . .(https://www.google.com/maps/place/40%C2 ... 74.3448895" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
