I completed the road work for the junction at Mineola. If you look at my post from 7/8, you'll see Main St is missing as it crosses the tracks. Below is the finished product. I used joint compound mixed with black paint, and finished with weathering powders. I'm pretty happy with the results.

2nd video has a paint scheme that I made up that's LIRR inspired, maybe something the P72's would have worn if they had continued farther into the C3 era.

Nice looking cars! I’ve got 4 F&C P72 cars that Ive had for over a decade..seems like I only get to work on them little by little during the holidays. (With kids and a tons of other things always popping up, they are a long term work in progress)

How did the cars come out? How are the trucks? And the couplers?

Question: inside the Morris Park engine house (between the roundhouse and the first transfer table), were there work pits between the rails, or was it all flat concrete?

Pat, I've been poking around for any inside the Roundhouse info/photos... None thus far. But, here's my take on your question as followings:

As the major steam loco facility for the LIRR with a "good sized roundhouse" it would seem that all stalls be created equal so as not to require locos already serviced underneath via the work pit having to be backed our into another non-pit' stall to allow another loco access. As far as 'flat concrete' I don't see how the would service/lube the running gear/underbody/trucks/etc. Every photo/model I have seen has all the full repair/service stalls with pits. Yes, I'm sure there are proto exceptions (always 'a prototype' for everything in modeling land! :-) Best, Steve

I also asked on Facebook and Steven Torborg responded that apparently about half had a pit (he feels most of the pits were on the northern side). Yeah, I've looked at every photo I can find...nothing really shows much of the floor area.

Go the answer on Facebook... in the image below the red box is the outline of what was once the engine house. The roundhouse is to the right, the first transfer table was to the left. The arrows that indicate the first two of what appears to be new concrete filling in the old inspection pits. My model has six stalls,so the first two (or three) will have pits.
