Hey everyone... this is my first post here. I have a huge interest in the history of the FEC. I also like photography so here goes.... (These pictures were all taken within the last 2-3 years)
FEC # 252 at the southern end of Hialeah...
Here is a very poor night HDR image I compiled of an FEC SD70; #101 at the yard just north of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Int'l Airport.
On US1, just south of SW. 62nd avenue... Under the metrorail elevated tracks: A former FEC rail bridge has been converted for pedestrian use. It's design is unmistakable however.
Looking north near the end-of-the-line at Kendall. These are the last remnants of the crossties left here. Surprising that they were concrete... I somehow remembered wooden ties in really bad shape. The red traffic light in the background is SW. 80th street.
South of the old Kendall terminus, the grade crossing was left on SW. 98th street... Maybe 30 feet from US1. Facing south, one can also see the northern end of the South-Dade Busway that replaced the tracks on this ROW all the way south.
This is a more recent picture, taken just last month. Red FEC hopper car with the skull and crossbucks.
Hope you enjoy! - Alex
