Does anyone know the oldest engine currently in commuter service on NJT? I know some of the 4200 series engines date back to 1966, but I don't know which ones exactly.....And what is the oldest engine in service since its overhaul?? The 4130 or 4131 date back to 1987 correct??

Thanks,
Steve

I think hobokenterminal.com has the "born on" dates of all the locos :D

Thanks, According to the site the 4202 and the 4207 look to be the oldest built in December of 1965......

I don't think this engine ran any passenger service, but NJT GP40-2 4303 is currently the oldest locomotive on NJT's roster, built October 1965.

I also have a mini documentary talking about this engine, and other ex-NYC GP40s which are *mostly* still on NJT's roster if anyone is curious.

This is what happens when an almost 20-year-old thread gets dredged up.

If they all rolled off the assembly line at LaGrange in sequential order, 4207 (NYC 3005) would be oldest, followed by 4202 (3006), 4303 (3008) and 4215 (3009). The serial build and frame numbers for EMD Order 7831 are all in
order, so this is very likely.
