Got a few updates on the Island Rd/Enviormental Dr line.

A few months ago a developer submitted plans to use almost 55 acres of woods in proximity to the line for a major residential development that would border the railroad beds.

Initial application - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fCdlwx ... sp=sharing

Updated plans (Dec 2019) - https://www.millis.org/sites/millisma/f ... 58DhAcVpQI

Also, today there was major demolition on the remaining GAF building, this building will likely be gone before next week.

It’s been a year and a half since Tresca got any shipments, does anyone have any updates? Seems that unless a new customer opens up, it doesn’t look good for the Millis Line.

Is 1701 still sitting there, in reasonably unvandalized condition?

As far as I know -yes. Was started up about three-four weeks ago. Rumored work on trestle soon, but
such as it with rumors!

The trestle in question crosses the Charles River in Medfield next to the waste treatment plant. The 1701 is sitting only 50 yards away.

I thought that's the one you meant.
Interesting, since it was apparently extensively rehabbed not that along ago,
and also because I doubt they'd sink money into a trestle they weren't planning to use.
Makes me wonder if there's some new business moving into the area.

Trestle.. Ohhhhhhkkkkaaaaayyy.. WHO exactly is responsible for that?? I believe (without double checking) that MassDOT owns to the midpoint of the river and Peter Harkey owns southwest of that point. So who's dime will this be on? Methinks it wouldn't be economical for BCLR.

The state announced a bunch of trail grants today. One is for construction of the Medfield Rail Trail from Medfield Junction to the Dover line. No impact on any possible operations south of Medfield Junction - the northern section has been OOS since 2006 and abandoned since 2013.

This will be a short trail. The Dover NIMBYS have made it clear that they do not want a bunch of out-siders passing through their town.
