Hello everyone,

I'm looking for the month and year that NS GP38-2 5312 was first painted. It was originally Conrail 8129, and appears to have been painted in the NS horsehead livery sometime between 2000 and 2005. I've located a picture of 5312 fresh out of the paint shop, but unfortunately it is undated:

The Conrail Historical Society Photo Archive gives a painting date of May 29, 2003. However, I've seen a photo of 5312 dated 2002 (I suspect this is wrong, and the date might be circa 2005), and another that suggests it was painted in late 2004.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

There's a photo of it in black in Nov. 2005 here: http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=207778" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This may be the photo in 2002 you're referencing: http://rrpicturearchives.net/locoPicture.aspx?id=46015" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
