IIRC, the WWA ran on the Cincinnati Ltd. Probably ran on others as well. Owned by James E. Strates Carnival. Car #7 Hamburg, NY.

I have been doing some looking and was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to who bought the car from the PRR? JESX did not get it until 1972. I would think the car had some time to rome before it made it's way to Orlando? Plus I found this picture online. Was this some PRR paint job? I can't belive they would take a turn so late. It also has the number 8975 on it.

Does anyone know how many of the blunt end obs cars are still out there? I know of the tower view, Mountain view, WWA, and the Samuel Rae. Any others? Also the WWA is going to be preserved. The deal to get her from the Strates Shows is done and it has already had some work done to the trucks and some of the walls added by the JES have been removed. More as it happens.

I have found three for sure that are still out there.

PRR 8423 Frank Thomson is in Winslow, AZ as the Louis Sochalexis in PRR paint.
PRR 8426 Samuel Rea French Lick, IN.
PRR 8427 William Wallace Atterbury Orlando, FL as JESX/RHSX #7.
There seems to be one more of these in TX as a PV.

PRR view cars
PRR 8419 Mountain View, Altoona, PA.
PRR 8420 Tower View, Strasburg, PA.

I would be interested in knowing what trains the "Frank Thomson" (PRR 8423, "Louis Sockalexis") ran on. I've seen one reference to a Cincinnati train and not much else. The design seems similar to the "Alexander Hamilton" which is owned by Morristown & Erie and as I understand it ran on the Congressional.

Some history of the later PRR uses for the blunt end cars

"The PRR purchased postwar Sleeper Lounge Observations for three of their premium service trains the CINCINNATI LIMITED, LIBERTY LIMITED and SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS. These cars with 2 Drawing Rooms 1 Compartment 1 Double Bedroom Buffet 25 seat Lounge Observations were delivered by Pullman Standard in February March 1949. They were originally intended to carry NARROWS suffix names but before delivery the cars received names of noted PRR personalities.

"The PRR never purchased any additional new streamlined Parlor cars for any other service. When additional streamlined Parlor cars were required for trains between Washington and New York the PRR turned to some of their little used prewar sleeper lounge observations and later some of the postwar sleeper lounge Observations. There were no internal changes made to these cars they were simply designated as parlors and they were assigned 7100 series numbers for parlor car service. Two of these cars were designated Parlor cars in January 1957 and followed by two additional cars in April 1957. The five postwar cars were designated parlors in November 1957.
