I saw the same auction and wondered the same thing. It's a four track ROW but there's no catenary so it can't be along the NEC. There's also some sort of pickup shoe mounted to the lead truck, possibly for cab signals? I have a sneaking suspicion that this picture was actually taken in north Jersey while some of the cars were running up there for NJ Dot. The curved overpass also has a Lackawanna look to it.

I suppose I need to retract my last guess as the cars would have had their safety stripes when running up north in the early 80's. There was a YouTube video a while back showing a runby of these cars, I believe on the Pt Jervis line, but it is no longer available. The first frame of the video can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/jp.swf?video_id= ... qg_tnPAlBe.

Obviously the lead car was evidence of how well they were being cared for at that point.

Well it's been determined by another group that the location is not on the PRSL at all (which would explain why I couldn't figure out where it was), and the RDC is probably not a PRSL RDC.

Gotta love EBay...
