Picked up a 1964 Cleveland-Youngstown commuter schedule. Didn't know Pennsy operated such a service. Can anyone give me some background on this operation, and when it ended? Did it leave from the Cleveland Union Terminal?

You can view the schedule here:

That was the remnant of the former Cleveland & Akron / New York City through service. The Clevelander operated via Alliance and the Akronite via Youngstown. As service was cut back, those trains were combined with the Morning and Evening Steeler runs.

The end was the schedule you show.

PRR never came into CUT even though provisions were made to allow PRR to come into the west side via the Big 4 trackage from the Lakefront Union Depot. PRR vacated the old Union Depot c. 1959 and used the Euclid Ave. / E. 55th St. Station until service was abandoned.

At one time, PRR had 6 RT's between CLE and PGH, plus the Akronite, plus a true commuter job from Alliance.
