Folks might want to check out the LIRR FOrum, and look under the header of the current state of LIRR G5's 35 and 39. There are photos of 39's rebuilt tender, back from shopping, as well as one of the boiler being rebuilt. THere should be a hot G5s on Long Island within a year.

Photos of the 110P72 tender towed behind G5s #39, currently under active restoration for the Railroad Museum of Long Island. This tender is ready to go, having been completely rebuilt for the return to steam. Please note teh newly fabricated oil fuel tank, to be installed in her coal bunker. Terms of restoration required conversion to meet air pollution and fire safety standards.

These pictures are courtesy of the RMLI. Please consider getting behind this operational restoration in any way you feel capable of doing. Contact the RMLI through it's website or through me. Your contributions will help put Pennsy design Belpaire steam back into service.

Hi Richard,

Please keep us informed of the progress for the re-builds of # 35 and # 39. Last I heard # 39 was further along than # 35.
