At about 6:05PM, Train #775 (2 RDC's) dp. Camden Passenger Yard and moved to Broadway Stn. to load passengers. While standing at the platform, it was struck by #137 (RDG 4-6-2 #217 & 3 cars) which also originated at the Camden Passenger Yard and proceeded to Broadway Stn. to receive passengers.

Interlocking signals governed the move, and #137 was proceeding on a "Restricting" signal. Impact speed was about 5mph; 28 injuries and some damage to the rear RDC as the impact moved #775 "several feet".

Both trains were PRSL, but the trackage was PRR. ALAN and CENTER Towers controlled train movements in the area of Broadway Stn.

Did the report give any cause for #137 exceeding Restricted Speed? Many times the engineer who committed the violation doesn't survive the collision, but in this case the investigators could ask all the necessary questions.

Accident occurred on Tk. #5.

Engineer's forward vision was limited by curvature and he said he was looking for the mark to properly stop for boarding.

Fireman's forward view was limited by locomotive boiler and buildings, and he was adjusting the stoker and checking the fire.
