Does anyone know if the PRR ever tested the Centipedes on mainline freights after being bumped of passenger duty and before they were sent to Altoona for helper duty? Long story short I just started modeling the PRR between Massillon and Crestline and am seeing if its at all plausible to run the Centipedes I have in the freight scheme.

Yes,they ran in system wide road freight service for a brief time. They were also used in helper service out of ZOO in Philly and Thorndale. They were known for their stump pulling and shoving power at low speed. The diesel had some problem IIRC and that why they were banned from passenger service. The EMD E-units that were starting to flood the property,were virtually bullet proof and shoved the Centipede's out of pass service.
