The combination with MITRAC is what makes it interesting in the first place - given proper distance between stops it's entirely possible to only install the induction loops at stops, not on the general system; the tram, during passenger exchange, would load up the MITRAC, and would then have enough energy to move itself to the next power-up stop up to half a mile away. With braking energy going to MITRAC, it just means it would load up less at the next stop.
The problem i see with Primove is its relatively low energy transfer, laid out for maximum 500 kW.

Could the energy transfer be inproved by transfering three-phase power rather than single phase. Given that three phase actually requries less conductor wire than single-phase, are three-phase transformers more economical than single-phase ones.
