I'm trying to get info on shipping plate glass. IIRC, Trains had an article on plate glass and it was shipped in boxcars. The article was maybe 10 or 15 years ago. Was it regular boxcars, or was it specialty boxcars, or am I crazy...

If it's packaged correctly, why would shipping glass in a boxcar be different than any other kind of freight?

I guess you're right...I thought the boxcars was special...

I'm putting a plate glass factory, 'Clearview Plate Glass', on my layout.

I could imagine a railroad serving a glass factory having some designated box-cars for plate glass service. Cushion under frame, of course, and prominently stencilled "DoNot Hump ON PANE OF DEATH" (Grin!)
