OK, since there is no Milwaukee Road forum, I thought this would
be more general. Out of curiosity, did the BN hire a lot of Milwaukee
engineers and trainmen after the Milwaukee ceased operations on the
PCE?

Actually, the "Midwestern" forum would be the best place to put this, or maybe the "Fallen Flags" forum...

However...

Your friendly, neighborhood moderator has a soft spot for the Milwaukee Road, as his hometown was formerly a part of the Iowa & Southern Minnesota Division of said fallen flag.

Therefore, you may feel free to discuss said topic without fear of the "magic lock." In fact, your moderator encourages further discussion of this topic. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

You bet they did. I attended BN locomotive engineer classes at St. Paul, MN in the late summer of 1979. There were four and possibly more ex-MILW engineers going through our class just for familiarization of the Bn way and to insure that they could pass their qualification exam. Two of these men went on to become RFE on the BN. Worked with other ex-MILW folks on the BN, as well. Many of these saw the handwriting on the wall and hired on with BN prior to the cessation of MILW operations.
