Here are a few close-ups of the rarely photographed GE Schenectady 85 Tonner #20. This locomotive was auctioned in November and is being replaced by a Trackmobile. Sister unit #21 is still operational and on site. These two locomotives were delivered new in the mid-70s, but operate in an area obscured from public view.

It was auctioned off on an internet auction and ended up going for $80,500...much more than I would have expected. So it's not going to be scrapped and I doubt a museum would have wanted it. It had a bad traction motor and had to go out by truck so that was an additional cost. It needed some work but was in overall good shape. Should be gone by now...buyer had 30 days to remove.

A nice looking GE 25 tonner went for less than $3,000 at the same auction. Was located in Louisiana.

Looking at the piictures in the post it looks like one of General Electric's SL series of switchers "SL 80 - SL144"...
