If a railroad would like to purchase GE's P42 or P32 today, considering their reliability, would GE make them, or would they treat it as a custom order?
GE has a P42GEVO on the drawing board, it can be deliverd as single or dual mode unit, it has a different cab butsame carbody.
It would take a minimum order of 18 units for it to be cost effective, and in my opinion MNCR/CDOT/LIRR/NJT should be able to come up with a order of at least 30 units.
They just have to combine their effort.
