When were the AS616's retired on the C&O, and where did they go? I was wondering about that and haven't found an answer in any of my books. Unless I overlooked it.

C&O BLW retirement?

Most of those units were ultimately sold for scrap or traded in to EMD or GE. I believe that they last operated on C&O and B&O during 1970; although it's possible that some might have remained in service on those roads into early 1971. During early 1971, some of them -- perhaps all those that remained in service -- were leased to B&LE and retired later that year after the lease expired.
