How rare are these beasts? Their cousins the GP-9s seem to be everywhere but the SD version was not as popular or longlived.

I e-mailed B&O diesel expert Jim Mischke and this is what he had to say:

"BNSF 6140 active

BNSF 6144 is now BNSF 1725 and active. It is former B&O SD7 763, not SD9 772."

I had bad feelings when I saw this unit missing its engine room doors a while back. A sad ending, but at least there are other Chessie System painted units out there.
