Just saw that, unbelievable! From the chopper shots, it was a push-pull inbound between Glenside and Jenkintown. Best wishes for the engineer and hopefully it wasn't a trainee which would be about the only reason that train set was out and about in the middle of the afternoon.

Back in the 60's and 70's people would jump off a high rise building or leave the car running in the garage.

Today's generation overdoses and jumps in front of trains.

It's an unfortunate part of human nature. Throughout history, people sometimes become so depressed or helpless, they feel as though they have no other choice but to end their life. It's ashame they don't get the help they need before they make the choice to end their life.

Thanks, couldn't see the head end. Not even qualified and has its first fatality. Reminds me of the kid who climbed up the brand new SL-V at WES and got electrocuted.

Has SEPTA deployed its gel trains yet?

I'm not aware of any slippery rail delays [yet] but past practice has them start the gel program in early October.

I'm not complaining. This Indian Summer is great weather for sitting outside and having a cold beer, or sneaking off to the beach for some last rays of sunshine with nobody else around at the Jersey shore except the sea gulls and the fisherman looking to hook a striped bass during the fall migration.

A gel train ran on the Norristown line late last week, maybe Thursday night. I assume it was a test train, I haven't heard one since. Can't remember the loco #, maybe 61 or 71.

So um, this was posted on the SEPTA main page earlier this evening:

Lansdale/Doylestown : Outbound train #570 is operating with delays of up to 30 minutes due to an unruly passenger aboard the train.

Something happened today. Big midday delays on the Doylestown Line. Twitter said it was emergency track work, does anyone know what happened?

There were issues with the grade crossings in North Wales not functioning properly on Thursday 11/30 & Friday 12/1, causing trains to have to be flagged across them. Supposedly due to a broken rail in the pavement under one of the crossings, causing shorts in the signal circuits.

West Trenton service currently suspended on account of a fatal train / auto collision at the Red Lion Road crossing. Given the treacherous road conditions this morning, the car most likely slid down the hill and into the crossing. RIP to the driver.

Looks like SEPTA is shutting down service all over the system in response to this Nor'Easter.

KYW 1060 news interviewed Jeff K. He estimates the regional rail system should be close to “normal” by Monday. Best bet for passengers going to the flower show is via the subway system. Another similar storm with strong wind predicted to hit the area on Wednesday.
